Jon Schaff-Racquet Sports Director
Jon is PTR-certified with over 25 years of teaching experience. Jon has taught tennis since he was 16 years old in various locations including Boston, Savannah, and Minnesota. He has served as the Assistant Tennis Director at Cherokee Country Club in Madison and most recently worked for Tennis Corporation of America (TCA) in Chicago as their Tennis Director.
Jon was previously ranked #2 in Wisconsin for Mens Open doubles and his Mens 5.0 team won state in 2009. Jon played varsity college tennis at UW-Whitewater and UMASS-Boston with a 23-1 record his senior year. Jon’s claim to fame is playing Luke Jensen in an exhibition singles match, where he had more aces and ended with a 4-4 tied score!
Scott Meixl-Director of Junior Tennis
Scott, a PTR-certified professional, has been teaching for over 12 years. He was the manager of a health and racquet club in Sherman, Texas, before coming to Wisconsin in 1999 and becoming Director of Tennis at Club West in Neenah.
Scott played collegiate tennis at Navarro Junior College where he was national champion in singles and second in the nation in doubles. He transferred to Southeastern Oklahoma State University where he majored in Marketing and received his Masters in Business Administration.
Rick Klingbile-Head Tennis Professional
Rick has over 17 years of teaching experience. In that time, he has taught players of all levels, ranging from four-year-old beginners to advanced high school students to collegiate players. As well as coaching numerous juniors, Rick also works with adults, including those who have never played before to advanced competitive players, with players ranging in age from their mid 20s through their 80s and even 90s.
Rick is a member of the United States Professional Teaching Association (USPTA) and has achieved a Pro 1 accreditation. Rick has taught at Western for over 12 years. In addition to teaching tennis, Rick is the club’s head stringer and has an extensive knowledge of tennis and racquetball equipment.
Mark Thomas
Mark is the club owner and finance director. He has over 13 years of tennis teaching experience. He played college tennis for Marquette University and is now the head coach of UW-Green Bay Men’s Tennis Team.
Sara Schubring-Tennis Professional
Sara is a USPTA-certified tennis pro who has been teaching for the past 14 years. Sara received her MS in Exercise & Sports Science-Human Performance from UW-La Crosse. While at UW-La Crosse, she was the tennis team captain and played #1 doubles and #2 singles. Sara served as the areas USTA Jr. Team Tennis Coordinator from 2004-2008, and was the 2007 USTA Midwest Organizer of the year. Sara is the head coach of the UW-Green Bay Women’s Tennis Team and is a current USTA league participant.
Josh Denault-Tennis Professional
Josh is a PTR-certified professional. Josh graduated from Preble High School in 2003 and has coached the Preble Boys and East High Girls High School Teams. In addition to enjoying the sport of tennis, Josh also plays golf, soccer, and football.
Adam Rens-Tennis Professional
Adam began teaching tennis in high school, and has over 6 years of experience teaching players of all ability levels. He won the Iowa High School state singles championship in 2004, before moving on to play collegiate tennis at Johnson County Community College and Washburn University. While at Washburn, Adam earned first team all-conference honors in singles and doubles. Last spring, he served as the head coach at Lourdes High School and as a volunteer assistant coach for the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
